  • Thank you, Robin Von!  Robin has stepped up to be Treasurer of our Charitable Fund.

  • We are all saddened by the passing of two of our members – Phong Vu and Mel Upp.  The club approved supporting Phong’s wife, Donna, with food and rental equipment for the celebration of Phong’s life next week. We will also be planting an apple tree in the Community Garden in his memory on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10 a.m.  All are welcome to attend.  Mel Upp’s wishes were for donations to be given to the RI Foundation. The attending members approved a donation of $500.

  • We did not have a quorum attend the meeting, so we were unable to vote on the proposed amendment to our ByLaws.  Legal eagle Rob Schaefer reported that the club officers have the right to continue operating the club until a budget is approved.

  • Heather reported the Charitable fund has $32,585 in reserve at year end.

  • Miki asked us to update our profiles in Clubrunner and showed us where we can find information such as our Club financials.  If you would like a copy of her directions, please email Carolyn at cjmartinod@gmail.com.

  • All 13 Rotary goals were adopted by the club.
Imagine Rotary
The new Rotary year kicked off with a message from the first female President of Rotary International, Jennifer Jones.  The theme this year is to “Imagine Rotary.”  Specifically, her initiatives focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion; creating a welcoming club experience; expanding our reach; and empowering girls.  This action plan laid the foundation for the Visioning process that our club started in June.  Building on the work from last year’s strategic planning, goals were set for what our club will look like in 2025.

The membership had the opportunity to review and refine the club’s 3-year goals.  Thirteen action items were selected:

We will have 50 members by 2025.  We will enhance participant engagement by:
scrutinizing meetings/program to make them relevant; pairing new members with mentors; and conducting field trips to new/established businesses.  We will Increase ability to adapt by:  establishing a donor appreciation event; being known for diverse/universal membership; and engaging and leveraging social media.  We will Expand our reach by:  establishing the Signature Event; establishing waste reclamation; and adding classes to the garden project.  We will increase our impact by:  creating a community needs assessment; partnering with local organizations; and measuring impact both  locally & globally using assessment tool.

We will start working on these goals in August!
