  • Gerri is back from heart surgery in New Hampshire!
  • Pints for Polio is happening in VOC in October.  Full Moon Saloon and PJ's are our proud community partners, helping us increase our impact to END POLIO NOW.  Please make note on your calendars:  Mondays, October 3, 10, 17, and 24 starting at 4 p.m.  We'll need volunteers to hang out for a couple of hours, let patrons scan a QR code and donate, hand them some P4P gear.  The rest will be up to you.  More details to come...
  • Tracey Thie was inducted as a new member of our club.  The quilter extraordinaire has already helped our club with silent auction donations.  She's also a retired not-for-profit fundraiser who can switch from Londoner to Southerner in one word!  We're excited to have her join our family!
  • 98 dollars of happiness were collected for Manzanita Outreach.  Details of Hunger Action Month and food insecurity in our area were in the beautiful program created by Heather.  If you would like a copy, please email Carolyn at cjmartinod@gmail.com
  • Having our meeting in the Community Garden showed us all why our new motto is, "nurturing our communities through service."
Changing the View
Our first meeting of September was held in our own community garden.  Heather shared its past, present and future.  Most importantly, we reviewed that this isn’t your typical community garden.  This garden allows non-Rotarians to participate and gives back to our fellow citizens and schools through organic produce donations.  The Director of Manzanita Outreach (our Happy Bucks recipient for September) estimated that our donations are worth at least $3.66 per pound.  Our 483 pounds donated last year were worth $1,767.78!

The community garden is currently OUR main service project for OUR club. Whether you enjoy being in the garden, want to take pictures of the beauty, help move wood chips and pull weeds, or simply tell others about it, it’s ours to share. The more people know about it, the more our action is evident. Feel free to visit anytime or contact Heather to get involved. We continue to nurture the community through our garden.
2022 Golf Extravaganza Update
The 2022 Golf Extravaganza is gearing up for the biggest year yet!  With Squad Leaders Jennette and David Bill back in Sedona, the final push is underway.  It’s time to join David in recruiting golfers!  Jennette, with the help of Susan on sponsorships and Miki on the Silent Auction, has gathered record donations.  Sponsorships now total $14,500 and items are worth over $9,000!  Note that this year our food cost is much higher as we have the renowned Colt Grill providing the lunch.  So, we can’t stop here!  With that in mind, we’ll also be playing Heads or Tails for booze.  Heather is providing a cooler and will be selling $20 chances to win everything in the cooler.  Please bring your new, unopened donations of alcohol to the next meeting.  Beverages such as wine do have a shelf life if not properly stored.  Therefore, hard liquors such as vodka and tequila may make for better donations.  We’ll do our Golf Extravaganza run through at our next meeting.  Be sure to attend for the latest in how you can increase the donations and maximize the fun!
Finding Time
Members played ball with Susan in a team building exercise called Finding Time.  The game was to see how many balls we could have in the air at once.  We struggled a bit with just one, which really drove home the point of the exercise.  We are all busy people.  Things we can do to make life more manageable include asking for help, communicating better, and dividing the task into smaller parts.
