Arizona Milkweed for Monarchs, the Rotary Club of Sedona Village, and Sedona Bee Company invite you to the first in a series of monthly Community Garden Open Houses on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 7-9 a.m. at Big Park Community School, 25 W. Saddlehorn Court, Sedona, AZ 86351. We will have two Master Gardener Student presentations on topics TBA, one of which will include a demonstration for children on gardening.  PLEASE invite your friends and neighbors and their children.  Let’s inspire some young gardeners!!  I

Explore community raised bed gardens and a Monarch Waystation garden. Engage with experts from Arizona Milkweed, the Rotary Club, and Yavapai County Master Gardeners. Enjoy presentations, hands-on activities, and family-friendly events. Learn about gardening, pollinators, and beekeeping. Connect with your community and support local conservation efforts. Join us for a morning of discovery and learning.

Sedona area children from grades 1 to 12 will perform a special version of Treasure Island.

There will be a performance at 3 pm and another at 5 pm.

The Missoula Children's Theatre takes pride in presenting TREASURE ISLAND, an original adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s epic novel. Young Jim Hawkins, a mischievous lad, lives with his Mother and six Sisters in a seaside village on the coast of Maine. The year is 1782 and the American War for Revolution is in its last days. Longing for adventure, Jim comes under the hypnotic spell of the legendary pirate, Long John Silver. While waiting tables in the family Inn, Jim finds a treasure map and, with the villainous Silver as his seeming mentor, sails uncharted seas with only the ragged map and a flock of Gulls as guides. Always up for adventure, Jim’s Ruffian friends say farewell to their Mariner parents and serve as cabin boys for Silver and his band of hilarious (although unsavory) Pirate types. Once on the island, nights are sleepless as true colors are revealed in our hero’s quest for the proverbial happy ending. Then - at last - the treasure is found and hand in hand we’re homeward bound.

Village Of Sedona Rotary is taking the lead while working with all the Rotary Clubs of Sedona  and Verde Valley  to present the full day training for people in our community who work with youth. Clear your calendar for the full day training Saturday February 1st, 2025

Ivy will introduce the basics about training The participants will be taught how to:

• assess the risk of suicide, self-harm or substance abuse
• listen nonjudgmentally
• give reassurance and information 
• encourage appropriate professional help
• Encourage appropriate self- help and other support strategies 
• common signs and symptoms of mental health and or substance use. 

Business expected at the August meeting will include completion of the budget for this Rotary Year.

Hear stories and see pictures of the incredible experiences of Sedona Village Rotary's International Exchange Students:  Katrina Le and Jaden Kuhn who spent their summer with their Italian exchange sisters in Italy and the United States AND our full year exchange student, Kaori Emerson, who is just back from France.  Also, hear the impact of receiving scholarships to summer camps as told by some of the 12 scholarship recipients.

Our Rotary Club and Friends have been invited to a private tour and recpetion at the Verde Valley Archaeology Center in Camp Verde. The museum displays artifacts of previous peoples of the verde valley. There will be a behind the scenes tour of the Museum, includeing the lab and repository. Monica Buckle, VVAC Director, has arranged the tour and will host the reception. Here's a quick video showing some of the facility and introducing the director.

The Archaology Center is the Official Nonprofit Partner of the National Park Service for Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot and supports the Arizona State Parks ; Trails Site Steward Program.

Knowlegeable volunteers provide site surveys of land for the partners as well as providing lab analysis of artifacts found.

Join us and Master Gardener Jan Peck as we check in on the bounty of the raised planter beds, talk about garden issues, learn about composting, beekeeping, attracting pollinators and Monarch butterflies. Sample some of the delicious products by Sedona Bee company. Bring the family as there will be scavenger hunts, prizes and crafts.

Join Damian and help clean up our beautiful Oak Creek on September 1.

Regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Charitable Fund.

The Charitable Fund is a 501c3 Corporation that oversees the funds used by the Rotary Club of Sedona Village for service projects. Any member of the Rotary Club is welcome to attend this meeting to learn more about the oversight of the Charitable Fund.

RLI touches on everything Rotary and is not a "leadership" course but to give an overview of what Rotary is and what i does worldwide. It's goal is to create ENTHUSIASM for Rotary.

Miki and Chuck were part of an eight member Sedona Sister City Delegation to visit Jaslo, Poland. ..Sedona's potential Sister City.

Let's clean up the garden for the Monarch Festival so guests see it at its best.

Group of Australian Rotarians will spend the day site seeing in Sedona with local Rotarian lunch potluck/welcome event.

Come celebrate the fall harvest at the Community Garden, with an exhuberant display of plants for sale, food, games, butterly exhibits and information. This is when the Monarch butterflies migrate through our area, and you will see them here ( we've got all the goods to attract polinators) ! Our parners, Milweeds for Monarchs, will have interactive displays and garden items and art for sale. Mingle with fellow gardeners and outdoor enthusiasts - come enjoy a crisp fall day at the  Rotary Community Garden. This is a family-friendly event and we hope to see the kiddos there!

Make someone's day!  Put on a costume, hat or mask  (and bring an extra if you have one to share) and come for some dancing and snacks at Sedona Winds Independent Living on Jack's Canyon Road.
